  • TWPC FAQs

TWPC specializes in understanding our customers process improvement needs, and converting those needs into specific diagrams that show the important before and after process steps.  TWPC clients know what their processes looks like in half the time.

This type of knowledge is what we refer to as "The Transparent Way".

"We are the early process mapping experts for business and organizations."

Othello Smith, TWPC Founder & Lead Business Process Analyst

  • What is a business process diagram?

Business diagrams are used to visually represent business processes, improvement plans, strategies, and problem solutions. While there are multiple types of business diagrams that are used across different departments in an organization, some of the popular business diagram types include process maps, SWOT diagrams, infographics, organizational charts, roadmaps, and workflow diagrams.

  • Are TWPC diagrams customized for my business process?

Yes. TWPC customizes customer results  by producing specific early Active-Process-Diagrams options.

Special to TWPC is combining both simple and advanced process diagram functions, producing easy to read and implement processes maps, without loosing complex business modeling functions. In other words, our diagrams support your planned process automation.

The TWPC Active-Process-Diagram, (>APD<)™  covers one or more of the following customized  diagram options:

    a. context diagrams,

    b. swimlane diagrams,

    c. cross-functional diagrams,

    d. workflow diagrams,

    e. procedural flowcharts.

  • How are Active-Process-Diagrams (>APD<)™ used in business?

Active-Process-Diagrams (>APD<)™ make your organizational processes transparent.

TWPC develops and draws active process diagrams from start to finish in a complete business model package to:

    1. Identify and prevent process problems.
    2. Understand all business functions  including order and procurement related processes.
    3. Represent an employee’s tasks or daily routine - the big picture.
    4. Understand the paths that users take to complete their work - the little picture.
    5. Develop a business plan or product production plan.
    6. Document a process in preparation for an audit, or regulatory compliance such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
    7. Document processes in preparation to implement balanced scorecard methods, or provide transparency within business process management projects!
  • What is the difference between a business function and business process?

    A Business Function is a major organizational unit of a business which has specific responsibilities and performs activities on a regular basis to enable the business to carry out its mission (the function refers to both the organizational unit and the types of activities it performs);

a Business Process is a set of activities, which draw on one or more business functions to help carry out the organization’s mission. The business process often cuts across organization and functional lines. The business process may involve multiple organizations both internal and external.

A Business Workflow is a series of descrete steps showing the details found within the important "Sub-Process" symbol. A sub-process is a component of the business function, and is used to divide business functions into smaller units of work shown as the "how-to-do-it" business steps and process automation phases.
